Beef Lasagne

Lasagne with a twist.

To make this beef lasagne comforting, we layer the mince with a homemade white sauce, which makes the perfect, thick and creamy layer. Save this, try it and serve it with classic, crusty garlic bread to make it finger-lickin' good!

Ingredients:

** Based on 0.5 Kilograms of Beef Mince

** Serves around 3-4 People or Makes 1 Tray

Beef Filling:

  • Oil - 2 Tablespoon

  • Onions (Chopped) - 2 Medium Sized

  • Garlic (Chopped) - 1 Tablespoon

  • Beef Mince - 0.5 Kilograms

  • Tomatoes (Chopped) - 2 Medium Sized

  • Tomato Ketchup - 0.5 Cup

  • Salt - 1 Teaspoon

  • Red Chilli Flakes or Powder - 1 Teaspoon

  • Black Pepper Powder - 1 Teaspoon

  • Dried Oregano - 1 Teaspoon

  • Tomato Paste - 2 Tablespoon

  • Chicken or Vegetable stock - 0.5 Cup

  • Green Pepper/Capsicum - 0.5 Cup

White Sauce:

  • Butter - 2 Tablespoons

  • All-Purpose Flour - 2 Tablespoons

  • Milk - 2.5 Cups

  • Salt - 0.5 Teaspoon or to taste

  • White Pepper Powder - 1 Teaspoon

Assembly/Layering:

  1. White sauce

  2. Lasagna sheets 12 boiled as per pack’s instructions

  3. Beef filling

  4. White sauce

  5. Cheddar cheese 1 cup or as required

  6. Mozzarella cheese 1 cup or as required

  7. Dried oregano to sprinkle

Directions:

Beef Filling:

  1. In the pan, add oil and onion (chopped) and garlic (chopped).

    Sauté for 1-2 minutes and then add the beef mince and sauté until mince changes colour.

  2. Add chopped tomatoes and then add tomato ketchup and mix well.

    Add salt, red chilli crushed, black pepper crushed, dried oregano, tomato paste and chicken or vegetable stock and cook for 2-3 minutes.

  3. Add green pepper, cook for another 2-3 minutes and then set aside.

For White sauce:

  1. In the pan, add butter and let it melt, add all-purpose flour and mix well.

  2. Gradually add milk and keep stirring and mix continuously.

  3. Add salt and white pepper powder and cook until sauce thickens.

For Assembling:

  1. Grease the baking dish with oil or butter spread white sauce, cover it with lasagna sheets, add the beef filling then again pour white sauce, sprinkle cheddar cheese and mozzarella cheese.

  2. Repeat the same process.

  3. Sprinkle cheddar cheese, mozzarella cheese and dried oregano.

  4. Bake for 20-25 minutes at 180 C or until cheese is golden brown.

  5. Enjoy it while it is hot!
