Triple-Baked Honey BBQ Chicken Wings
Triple-baked to crisp!
These Honey BBQ Chicken Wings are flavorful, juicy, and tender. They are thrown in the best Honey BBQ Sauce after being sprinkled in a blend of spices and triple-baked to a crisp.
Ingredients:
** Makes 20 (split) wings
Plain Flour - 1 Cup
Chilli Powder - 1 Teaspoon
Salt - 1 Teaspoon
Ground Black Pepper - 1 Teaspoon
Paprika - 1 Teaspoon
Garlic Powder/Paste - 1 Teaspoon
Wings - 20 wings or 15 drumsticks
BBQ Sauce - 1 Cup (Heinz Preferred)
Honey - 0.5 Cup (Fresh Preferred)
Directions:
Preheat the oven to 220 °C.
Combine flour, chilli powder, salt, pepper, paprika, and garlic powder in a bowl. Coat the wings in the flour evenly, shaking off any excess. Place the floured wings on a parchment paper-lined baking sheet and spread them out in a single layer. Bake for 45 minutes, flipping halfway until skin is crispy and golden brown.
Leave the baked wings to rest for about 4 hours or until they have fully cooled down.
Preheat the oven to 240 °C.
Bake for a second time for 10 minutes, flipping halfway until skin is nice and crispy brown. (This step adds the extra crispiness - Steps 4, 5 and 6 can be removed if you don’t want triple baked wings).
Let the wings sit for 1-2 hours at room temperature.
Preheat the oven to 240 °C.
In a separate bowl, combine the bbq sauce and the honey. Stir the cooked wings in the sauce and coat them evenly. Place the coated wings back onto the baking sheet and spread them in a single layer. Bake for 8-10 minutes until sauce is bubbly and caramelised.
Cool a little and then serve!
Ideal with Garlic Mayo or Garlic Sauce!
